WHAT IS A DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplaning is the ideal ‘quick fix’ treatment taking just 45 minutes. This is a method of deep exfoliation using a surgical grade scalpel that gently scrapes away the top layer of the skin, removing trapped dirt, peach fuzz hair and oil leaving the skin glowing, dewy and incredibly soft. It is beneficial to have dermaplaning prior to other facial treatments or before using skincare products as it allows for greater penetration and helps to reduce the appearance of fines lines, even skin tone and assists in reducing milia, closed and open comedones, and minor breakouts associated with congested pores.

DURATION: 45 Minutes
COST: £46.50

FAQS

WHO CAN HAVE DERMAPLANING FACIALS?

Dermaplaning can be used on all skin types except those with active, deep cystic acne or other skin conditions which could be exacerbated. It is a great treatment for anyone with dry skin, fine lines, pigmentation and acne scarring and particularly beneficial for ageing skin to assist with cell turnover.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY TREATMENT?

We will start with a thorough skin analysis followed by a double cleanse and tone before proceeding with swift strokes using the scalpel across the very top layer of the upper dermis removing fine hair and dead skin. This may sound alarming, but most people are so relaxed that they fall asleep during the treatment. Once we have completed the removal, we will finish off your treatment using skincare that is best suited to your skin type.

HOW MUCH DOES DERMAPLANING COST?

Dermaplaning sessions are £46.50 per session or £232.50 for a course of 6 sessions.

HOW OFTEN CAN I HAVE DERMAPLANING?

We recommend having Dermaplaning every 4-6 weeks.

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER & DARKER?

No, Dermaplaning does not affect hair growth at all. We only remove the top layer of the skin and ‘peach fuzz’ hair which is different from the hair on your head and eyebrows.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?

Your skin may feel sensitive after your treatment, which is completely normal. We advise to use a mild cleanser for 2-3 days after your treatment, to ensure you are not irritating your skin. You may also use a hydrating cream at night, as your skin will be more absorbent to anything you place on your skin.

  • Clients may have a treatment every 4-6 weeks
  • Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided
until redness has subsided
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, including sunbeds, avoid self tanners for the first week
  • SPF 30+ must be applied daily to the treated area for a minimum of two weeks, however we recommend continued daily use
  • Twice daily cleanse the treated area with a post treatment cleanser, followed by a serum or treatment cream and follow with SPF 30+ sunscreen

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

There are no side effects or downtime with dermaplaning, however your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure so it is important to wear a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation. If you have any questions or would like to find out more about the treatments we offer, get in touch with one of our experts for tailored advice towards your needs or concerns.
